Tech Talk n°5 Do LED lamps emit UV?

The big difference between LED and UV lamps is the different light spectrum which each lamp emits. The light Spectrum of LED lamps is narrower, so more focused in a specific position, while it’s also more powerful when compared to the light spectrum of UV lamps. UV lamps emit a broader light spectrum of a lower intensity so the light is more scattered.

For your clients, it’s very important to position their fingers correctly in The Smart Light - on the finger positions indicated on the bottom plate - in order to catch the light properly. This perfect position of the hand is the only guarantee for a fully cured gel!

Te curing process under this LED lamp is much faster than for instance UV lamps, and requires no more than 30 seconds! As the light spectrum emitted by UV lamps is wider, the position of the hand inside the lamp is less crucial (because the light falls wider). But because the power of the light emitted by a UV lamp is lower, the curing process with a UV lamp takes longer and is generally 120 seconds. Thus, with a UV lamp, you work much longer on each nail service just because of the longer curing time of each layer! 

Good to know! You can cure nails in 30 seconds under a LED lamp, like the Smart Light LED lamp. Under the UV lamp it takes you about 120 seconds, which is 4 times longer!
